Blowin' in the Wind - Her Wall

Remember when I told y'all the girl child decided her bedroom walls would be 2 silver and 2 black? (And my husband offered to hang a few old KISS posters up since it would match so well?).

Last week she told me she wanted 2 dandelion's for her wall decor.

"You know dandelion's are weeds right?" LOL.

Well, they arrived this afternoon and I got them up.

They are quite pretty 'weeds' if you ask me. (As long as they aren't blowing their nasty little seeds into my garden or my lawn!)

Edit to add:

Thanks for the comments.  We really like it.  And the whole "you want a weed on your wall" comment was teasing my daughter.  As for the benefits of dandelions - believe it or not I've had them before.  Yes....  as in, for dinner.  LOL.  But my best friends Mom picked them when they were too old (you have to young leaves) so they were too bitter.  I also practiced (loosely) homeopathic medicine in the late 90's so I know about the medicinal properties of our plants....  but I admit, life got far too busy with 3 kids under 5 years, all our relocation's, running our house hold and adding pets to the mix.  The 'homepathic me' faded away and I now have a bottle of asprin, Excedrin back and body, Aleve and some cold meds in my cabinet just like most of the rest of the country.  LOL.

PS:  You can find this design at hundreds of places online.  Just search for 'wall art' 'wall words' or 'vinyl wall decor' and you'll find a billion things to choose from.  I've ordered from a couple different companies over the years and they are all really similar.

  1. a weed by definition is simply a plant in the wrong place, and these appear to be in just the right place :)

dandelions were brought over on the Mayflower for their medicinal purposes, and are one of the most expensive grocery items going for as much as $31.lb

you can tell girl child I approve :)

  3. Ummm... I love dandelions. And, they are actually herbs. Too bad they get a bad rep because they are really good as tea, salad, and other things. In WWII my grandmother couldn't get medicine for one of her children who was jaundiced. As the story goes, she picked the dandelions and made tea (I don't remember which part). It took care of the child's problem. The child is now a great-grandmother now. The doctor couldn't get the meds and told her to prepare for the child's death.

  4. Plus I forgot to mention that goldfinches love dandelions seeds. When the dandelions turn white, the goldfinches jump on them and catch the seeds in their beaks. It is really fun to watch them stomp on the dandelions.
