Roger Miller - Chug-A-Lug - a hit in 1964 and would be a lawyer's wet dream in 2016

Roger Miller, Sr. (January 2, 1936 -- October 25, 1992) was an American singer, songwriter, musician and actor, best known for his honky-tonk-influenced novelty songs. His most recognized tunes included the chart-topping country/pop hits "King of the Road", "Dang Me" and "England Swings", all from the mid-1960s.

"Chug-a-Lug" reached number 9 on the U.S. charts in 1964, becoming his second pop hit. The song is a humorous reminiscence of youthful encounters with homemade alcoholic beverages.  Miller said that the song was based on a true story of a friend of his who "could drink a beer in 3 seconds.

In 1964 it's number 9 on the charts and a big hit.  In 2016 it would be met with protests, mother's groups condemning it for sensationalizing under-age-drinking.  Social media would explode, radio's would refuse to play it, schools would ban it from being played on campus.  Roger Miller would be investigated by the police to see if he was providing alcohol to under age kids and lawyers would be biting at the bit to see if they could sue Roger Miller on behalf of any youthful clients who would swear under oath this song made them decide to drink the night they got caught and arrested for underage drinking.

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug
Make you want to holler hi-de-ho
Burns your tummy, don'tcha know
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug

Grape wine in a Mason jar
Homemade and brought to school
By a friend of mine 'n' after class
Me and him and this other fool decide that we'll drink up what's left
Chug-a-lug, so we helped ourself
First time for everything
Mm, my ears still ring

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug
Make you want to holler hi-de-ho
Burns your tummy, don'tcha know
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug

4-H and FFA on a field trip to the farm
Me 'n' a friend sneak off behind
This big old barn where we uncovered a covered-up moonshine still
And we thought we'd drink our fill
And I swallowed it with a smile
Bllll-bbbb, I run ten mile

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug
Make you want to holler hi-de-ho
Burns your tummy, don'tcha know
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug

Jukebox 'n' sawdust floor
Sumpin' like I ain't never seen
And I'm just going on fifteen
But with the help of my finaglin' uncle I get snuck in
For my first taste of sin
I said "Lemme have a big old sip"
Bllll-bbbb, I done a double back flip
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug
