Taking a little coffee break, I was be-bopping around the internet and spied a little blurb about Walmart offering additional discounts to their prices if you order online and pick up at the store.
I wasn't sure if this was true or not - and I always like to fact check - so I did a search and sure enough, it not only seemed to be true, but I went straight to the source on Walmart's own website.
You can read the letter release in it's entirety at the source above but here are a couple bits from it;
"......... starting on April 19, we are going to begin offering a discount on eligible, online-only (non-store) items that customers buy online and ship to any Walmart store for pick up. Pickup Discount will initially be available on about 10,000 items. We will then roll out the discount to more than one million of the most popular items by the end of June."
"We’re creating price transparency to empower customers to shop smarter and choose what’s best for them. Now, they can either pick up and save even more money, or ship two-day for free to home, without paying for a membership."
"We can remove the last mile delivery costs (that represent the lion's share of the costs to ship products to customers' homes) when we leverage our fleet of more than 6,700 trucks to deliver products directly from fulfillment centers to our 4,700 stores," Lore said. "This means, quite simply, it costs less for us to ship to stores. So, our customers should share in those savings."
Not knowing about this new discount, I ordered a Gold's Gym weight bench and rack for my husband 2 days ago... shipped to our home. Had I known about this store pick up discount I probably could have saved even more money!
However, with as much camping gear and toys I've been ordering from Walmart I'm sure I'll be getting my 'discount' sooner rather than later.
