Review Time! My Overmont Sleep Pad - v2 - the extra wide and long size. Lots of a photos, a video and... and yes, I LOVE it

I have a self-inflating sleep pad I am pretty happy with, generally speaking; but with my recent larger sized cold weather sleeping bag, I wanted to see what was out there for a wider, thicker sleep pad.  The problem is I didn't want the kind that roll up like a big yoga mat, and I hated how skinny most of the sleep pads are.

I saw a new-to-me style that had a built in 'pump' that pumped by hand or foot to inflate.  This was... interesting.  I wasn't quite sure how it worked or how well, but I loved the measurements and size of this mat, and decided to spend the money to try it.

Getting right to the point, I love it.

Here it is right out of the bag.  It's a thick, really nice material and the red plug and rectangle you see is the 'pump' that is like a thick sponge or memory foam.

I rolled it out on carpet (without inflating) to see how big it was.  I had PLENTY of room all over.  Both at the head and the foot as well as both sides.

When researching for a sleep pad, some of the reviews for this style said they couldn't get it to inflate.  I had no problem!

The first thing is to make sure the bottom plug (black and clear) is closed.  Not just 'closed' but press it hard enough to hear and feel it click into place.

CLICK!  And it's flat.  And very, very secure.  No air can leak out now!  But you have to make sure it does the 'click' and lays flat.

The directions showed a drawing of using your foot to pump it but I saw it used both by hand and foot.

I tried the foot first thinking it might be faster and easier.

It wasn't. I found trying to pump it by foot unnecessarily awkward.
I stopped and started to use my hands to pump it, as if I was doing CPR and it instantly was filling up quick and easy.  I had the whole thing filled and plugged shut in less than a minute.

I didn't over-inflate it the first time, so this is as far as I went.  Remember when you lay on it, you  need to have room for the air to go that is displaced by your body mass.

    PERFECT.
And you can see while inflated, I had even more head and foot room at the top and bottom.

Love how thick and durable it is!
I laid on my side and couldn't feel the floor at all.  So then I carried it over to the hard wood floor and laid it down and tried to lay on my side on the hard floor.  Again, my hip wasn't even close to touching the floor.

You can see how thick and comfortable it was!

Not only is it thick and comfortable to lay on, the fabric isn't slippery, it's nice and thick and has a texture to it so it 'grabs' your sleep bag or your clothing a little bit and you aren't sliding all over the place.

They added snaps on the sides so you can snap yours together with your partners if you wish.

To pack it up, just pull the bottom clear and black plug back apart and start to press out the air as you fold it up.

This is literally how easy it was to get back into the bag!  First try, no hassle and it went right in.
