It's Just the Coffee Talking: Thinking of Laura

Rise and Shine....

The house is full of 'Littles' this morning.  But first, coffee.

Toys and cartoons until coffee.  Then I'll tackle breakfast.   Adults (not me) stayed up late last night talking so some are sleeping.  One is at work.  It's a hodge-podge kind of morning.

As I sipped coffee and read the news this morning I found myself remembering the Christopher Cross song, "Think of Laura".  If any of my readers were around during 1983-ish, the nation was rocked when a college student named Laura was sitting in the back of her family car after her parents had come to her school for homecoming weekend.  She was shot and killed by a stray bullet from a gang fight.  Cross wrote the song for her and it became a huge hit and was later used in a television soap opera featuring a character named Laura as well.

Anyway, the point of that was it came to mind because at the time it was big news that an innocent bystander was killed by a stray bullet.

Almost any kind of national crime made news just a short time ago. As a couple decades went by and changes came to be, we now live with horrible news barraging us every minute of the day.  And stray bullets are just one more thing that barely make a blip on the radar, among 30 other bad news articles on the same page.

Anyway... just something that came to mind as I sipped my coffee and skimmed the news headlines this morning.  The headlines that included a few different stories across the nation of innocent people killed or hurt by stray bullets yesterday.

Think of Laura.

It's just the coffee talking again........
