It's Just the Coffee Talking... talking trash. LOL

Good Morning coffee friends!

This morning is the first day in recent memory, I have it to myself in a quiet house. Nothing on my schedule, all family is gone home from our big celebration(s) long weekend, and Mr. Coffee is off to work and then an appointment this afternoon.

So... what am I going to do with my life today since I have the morning to myself?

Welp, I've been sipping coffee and reading various social media online - it's already 10:30 am so I'm thinking I'm going to accomplish very little over the next hour!  And that's ok because all the things that need/could/should to be done will still be there this afternoon or even tomorrow.  No magical elf is going to show up to do them for me.

Random chit-chat over coffee:

I've been going back and forth with our new trash company about October's bill, as they bought out all the accounts from our previous company except they didn't get records of any of the accounts that were paid after 10/31.  They took over service the last week of November.  That means anything paid in November is 'lost' between the 2 companies and of course, we paid our bill on November 10th.

The latest update?  The new company finally responded to one of my 4 emails and 1 phone call I placed.  Their response was "well if you can send proof of payment, we MAY be able to help on our end".... ?

So - surprising them, I sent proof of payment to the new company because luckily I went old-school in November and paid by check, including writing our account number and the invoice number on the memo part of the check!  (I did this on purpose, knowing they were transferring service and anticipated it not going smoothly.)   I sent an image of our canceled check from the bank.

But what did they say then?  Well... I'll show my supervisor and see if we can accept this as proof of payment.  In the meantime, you might want to check with 'previous company name' to make sure they received it.

Um?  OF COURSE THEY RECEIVED IT.  IT WAS CASHED BY THE PREVIOUS COMPANY - THAT IS WHY I WAS ABLE TO SEND YOU A COPY OF THE CANCELED CHECK... FROM MY BANK.

I get that not many people use checks anymore and a whole generation has zero idea of how they work, but if you are a customer service person you should really know what a 'canceled' check is.  And that it means it was cashed and cleared the bank.  The previous company really needs to just send all the payments they received between 11/1 and 11/28 but instead, are apparently making each individual customer contact the old company and ask them to send the info to the new company one-by-one.

How can they do a buy out and transfer of accounts and not count any payments made during a 3 week period during their transfer/buyout?

My check showing I paid for the service should be simple.  Quick. And end the 'overdue' and late-fee they have tacked on the account.  Gah.

In the words of Michel from The Gilmore Girls...

"People Are Particularly Stupid Today. I Can't Talk To Any More Of Them."

Oh... don't mind me.  It's just the coffee talking again.
