Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar made a notable misstatement while discussing the Alien Enemies Act.
She
said, “The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked. It was used to
detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War
11.”
She also referred to the U.S. having been through 11 World Wars.
In
reality, there have only been two World Wars in history. The comment
has drawn widespread attention and criticism for the basic historical
inaccuracy.
